    • Active Health is our scheme for physical activity opportunities for those referred by a medical professional. There can be a range of medical reasons for referral, and a range of exercise programmes available across the county in Leisure Centres and other local facilities at a reduced rate.

    • To get support on achieving your healthy lifestyle goals you may want to seek support from our Health Trainers.

      The Health trainer team can offer 6 free 1 hour sessions of one-one support for healthy eating, increasing physical activity, reducing alcohol intake, stopping smoking and emotional wellbeing. They will help to build confidence and motivation to enable you to achieve your goals, in a supportive and encouraging way.

    • Free weekly Parkrun 5k events for all ages on Saturday mornings, walk, run, jog, volunteer, spectate.

    • Walking sports are traditional sports played at a slower, walking pace. This means they are accessible to older people, people who thought they could never play again due to injury, age or medical condition or people that have never played before but would like to start something social, fun and enjoyable.     • Get Set to Go aims to improve the quality of life for anyone with a mental health problem through access to sport and physical activity in the local community. With support from Sport England and the National Lottery, Get Set to Go is proven to help overcome the barriers that some of us face when trying to get active for our physical and mental health.

    • Bath and North East Somerset boasts a huge range of leisure and sporting facilities that are open to the public. Find your nearest facility here

    • B&NES lifestyle and wellness services help people get active, lose weight and become smoke free. They also run services to help people find employment and volunteer opportunities as well as providing access to a huge range of wellbeing courses.

    • MyScript is a service available to anyone registered with a GP in B&NES and can be accessed either through the GP or via a self-referral. The service provides support for anyone experiencing social, emotional or physical health difficulties and through one-to-one appointments, helps you to access specialist services and community groups in the area.

    • Parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs on Saturday mornings. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; children and pets also welcome!     • A free wellbeing service for people with long term health conditions, including educational courses and individual face-to-face sessions or telephone support. For more information call 01225 675150 to arrange an appointment.

    • The aim of Walking Football is both to draw once-active people back to their sporting roots and also to engage those who want to gradually improve their fitness in a social environment.

    • Walking is the perfect activity for most people as it is accessible, you do not need to travel far to be able to do it, it doesn’t cost you anything, you do not need any special equipment, it can help you make friends and you can start gently and build up.     • The rules of walking netball are essentially the same as the traditional game, but by reducing the speed and taking out jumping, the game becomes much more accessible to those who are less active, injured or have previously been unable to take part due to ongoing illness. With less impact/stress on the joints, Walking Netball leaves plenty more time for lots of laughter and fun.
